Tire Rotation Service
Nothing can stop a good day in its tracks like a flat tire. Keeping your tires well maintained will not only extend their lives, it will also keep you feeling safe and stress-free on the road.
Free Tire-Rotation Service
When you bring your vehicle to Rainbow Muffler & Brake for an oil change, you will receive free tire-rotation services. You’ll be able to leave feeling secure about your tires’ safety and durability because our expert technicians will identify any issues — including dangerous balding, bubbling or punctures — while they complete your tire rotation.
What Is Tire Rotation?
Having your tires rotated means that each tire will be removed from the vehicle then switched to another position. This allows each tire a chance to wear evenly because it changes the areas of tread that are in contact with the road. The pattern of tire rotation is dependent on the type of vehicle you drive — all-wheel, front-wheel or rear-wheel drive. Tire rotations are recommended every 5,000 miles, or with every oil change.
Why Is Rotating Your Tires Important?
Your car’s tires spend all day, every day, in contact with the road. Over time, the friction caused by driving wears down the tread. Because no car’s alignment is perfect, this wear will occur on different parts of each tire, depending on its position on your vehicle. Uneven wear is responsible for balding spots, bubbling and other issues that can result in a flat tire. This issue is also a safety hazard; when tires have uneven wear, they can slip on the road and prevent you from stopping safely. This is especially dangerous in rainy or icy weather; if your front tires have worn down too much, you are more likely to lose traction in these conditions and could end up going off the road or sliding into another vehicle.
Tires that wear unevenly will also need to be replaced one at a time. This method can give you a “mismatched ride,” where your newer tires perform differently than the older ones already on your car. Rotating your tires will allow them to wear out at the same pace so you can replace all four at once. You’ll be able to preserve your vehicle’s original handling and save money (many shops give discounts when you purchase a full set of new tires). Some tire manufacturers also require you to have your tires rotated in order to keep the warranty intact.
